My Aquarium

07-Feb-2011 05:00 PM
Hi!
I am very excited about my new aquarium (fish tank), I am about to install at my home. Today morning, I went to see my fish tank. Kiran S did a good job. Its 24"(L) x 18"(W) x 18"(H) glass box, with 1 side of 18"x18" as mirror. I wonder how much gallon of water it would contain!
Vijay W today went to CST, to fetch me Oxygen machine, Purifier, Food etc. for my fishes. Alas! He didn't find fishes of his choice. You see, I am a beginner. I had asked him to advice me on the kind of fishes, that could be maintained easily. My preference was colorfull fishes. According to him, Gold-fishes pollute water quickly compared to Angel-fishes. I must admit, I am aprehensive about changing water frequently.

Another funny thing I would like to mention here, that whenever I called Swapnil T, to know about least-maintenance concerned fish (as myself being a beginner) he would blast me for thinking this way. He is a adamant fish-lover. He has fishes as pet from class IV itself. He simply warns me "They all got lives. They all need equal care & affection. In addition to food & oxygen. You better treat them well. Don't just get yourself one for the heck of it.!"

:) point noted...

08-Feb-2011 02:00 PM
Well! I saw my new aquarium at leisure yesterday again. And you know what! Its too wide actually. What I had imagined, would have been achieved by 12"(W) only. But now that its ready, I will use it anyhow.

Meanwhile I found this site which helped me to calculate my aquarium's volume & load measures. Check out if it can help you. So what I got now is an aquarium with base 24"x18" & 18" height. Which sums up to contain 33 US Gallon/ 28 UK Gallon/127 Litres of water in it. So any Idea, how much that wud weigh?

I calculated that if I fill it up to 15" (38cm) hieght only, I would end up with 28 US Gallon/ 23 UK Gallon/ 106 Litres.

And, and and ... i saw my little Angel-fishlets too. They ARE cute. Currently they are at Vijay's place. Soon it wud be at my place, but its stand is not ready yet.. This Balaji Furniture fellow...

09-Feb-2011 04:00 PM
I called up for my aquarium stand today too. They say it should be ready in next 02 days. I would be out of town for 03 days.
Have asked Vijay to collect it on my behalf.
10-Feb-2011 to 18-Feb-2011
Called repeatedly for my stand, each day reply being the same "कल हो जायेगा!"
They don't know how impatient I am to bring those fishes at my home.

16-Feb-2011 05:00 PM

Ah! must be a lucky day for me, I am smiling right now.
Because yesterday evening, though very late, but atleast the stand came.
I have uploaded a pic for you all to see it.
Its a mix of Dinner Table & Aquarium. Let me know what you think of this design.
Right Click & navigate to the link to view enlarged image.

Me & Vijay brought the fish-tank from his place to mine very late yesterday evening.

18-Feb-2011 02:00 PM

Well! Legend you couldn't see those fishes yesterday no!
I am uploading a pic of fish-filled tank here. Hope the fishes are visible.
Though it was late yesterday night, yet we transfered fishes from Vijay's place to mine.
Thanks Vijay for being there for me when I need your assistance.

Oh! my ..... These fishes are in love with themselves.
I had 1 side of my fish tank as mirror.
Whole night fishes kept kissing thier mirror images.
They couldn't let go of thier own admiration.
All of them were in that corner of the aquarium only.

Right now there are :
Angel Striped (Black/Silver): 2Angel Silver (Yellowish): 2Angel Black : 2Sucker : 2

◄ Yesterday, while returning from an Interview, bought some pebbles for my Aquarium. ALso, brought 02 new guest into the aquarium family. Zebra Tetra!
That's my sucker. Found palce to hide below the purifier. ►
May be afraid of so many pebbles being dropped into it's habitat.

◄ My fishes's self-love or self-admiration (whatever!) is unthinkable.
Almost a month has passed & see them.
That's my ever-shy sucker. Hiding behind few props I placed in the aquarium to decorate it. ►

◄ See the left & right pic combination carefuly. Notice the black Angel in upper-right corner.
It kept coming to centre of that prop flower. May be, it appeared to it as some real under-water animone. ►

◄ You have to click a hundred picture before you can identify few pics which captures your fishes perfectly.
This is one of them. Here is my yellowish headed Angel Fish.
And here is 01 of my striped silver/black beauty - Angel! ►

◄ Watching your fishes could be a huge stress buster. I usually watch my fishes feed themselves. Its intriguing.
Not only feeding but also general swimming. The way they swim in water is just like birds flying in air. Majestical!Free form flow of internal energy. ►

◄ A rare sight! Zebra Tetras don't stay still for a single moment. They keep swimming "as if there is no tomorrow". This one I got when it came for dinner!
And another one! My sucker.. sleeping!!
Do fishes sleep? I got this answer...on Internet.. ►

◄ This is my new import Platey (Orangish). A zebra tetra (Pinkish) is in background.

They don't sleep like us, fish don't have eyelids. But they do have their rest periods usually in the dark like us, unless nocturnal then they would rest in the day. So it is always best to turn the lights out when you go to bed!!!

After Team India's Loss in T20 World Cup 2010

Why Mr. Dhoni should care for us…

Because its us ‘the people’, who watch their each & every match religiously. Its because of us that the TRPs go soaring high. Its us who watch every sensible or non-sense AD in between the games too, so we don’t miss a minute of your game. Whether we are in office or traveling, our ears are tuned to latest commentary scores. We hear the commercials even, just for the sake of catching every update about the Game. It’s us, whom your sponsors target for there products. It’s because of us that you get paid handsomely by your sponsors.

To : MS Dhoni

am 1 of your biggest fan. Best part over. I am a fan of performance. You perform with your gloves or bat or captaincy skills, doesn’t bothers us, till we are not failing. Everybody fails, no shame in that. Failing in Tri-nation or other series is another thing. Failing on the grandest stage of them all, is certainly most shameful. You said “India is an emotional country”. You are wrong. India is an over-emotional country.

Cricket is almost a religion. And you are like 11 deities who guard our interest in the world of Cricket. No other sports-player earns like you all. So the bickering is obviously hardest on you.

No use of crying over spilled milk. You all gave your 100% in IPL matches. If partying late-night was tedious, you should have complained then, not now. When it came to defend your sponsors, you all did well. When it came to defend your country on the biggest platform, you failed collectively. Unacceptable! May you earn so much by IPL - 4 & 5, that you no longer need to play for nation. May devoted players take your place by then.

After our ODI World Cup 2007 loss, you brought us glory with T20 World Cup 2007. Afterwards, it has been a sorrow story. Recreate the magic once more. Try to bring the ODI World Cup 2011.

To : playing XI of Indian Cricket Team

India is an over-emotional country. Cricket has got a religious touch here. This is how it is here. If you can’t handle the pressure here, go play for some other country, where cricket is not well known.

India’s population is 1.2 billion . Even if say that 50% are females, it leaves us with 0.6 billion. Even if we say, lets exclude the senior citizen, under-19, handicaps etc, u still got 300 million eligible & willing candidates who want to earn a opportunity for playing XI. Let them feel, that the better talent qualified for the Team.

IPL is for Cricket crazy people. What’s for Cricket Lovers? Our International matches, especially the World Cups are for true Cricket Lovers & patriotic people of India. Next time you are selected for our national team, remember we would love to see you taken out on a stretcher all passed out, rather than walking with a hung face. We send our best there. We would not like it that we didn’t.

To : Yuvraj Singh

Yes dear! Without doubt we are questioning your fitness. Disciplined you are or not, we don’t care. We are questioning your commitment to the representation of National team. We won’t kill you if you are not in-form or unfit. Just make way for those who are. We will still hold you in high regards. You are our 6-sixes hero. But we can’t live in past. In T20 World Cup 2010, we were playing with only 10 players (Give us a reason, why we should count you). May you earn so much by IPL - 4 & 5, that you no longer need to play for nation. May committed players take your place by then.

Tip: Learn commitment from Kevin Peterson (England), Dirk Nannes(Australia).

To : Selectors

There was a time, when we were discussing about a second on-bench team, capable of competing internationally. So, if any of our main players is hurt/injured/unfit/unavailable we could have the reserve players coming to the fore. Is our on-bench strength have been abducted? Or the main players are hiding their injuries & fitness issue, just to gain Lakhs of match fees?

Well, Rohit Sharma played well in T20 World Cup 2010. Why was he in the team for T20 World Cup 2009? Murali Vijay!! Time & again, given a chance. Yet the results? 1-in-10 match wonder!! Ashish Nehra played well in T20 World Cup 2010? Many TV channels have calculated this. I beg to differ. Runs conceded by him manifest some another statistics. He is another 1-in-10 match wonder!! R. Jadeja, the buttery-leg man of Team India, competing for a Limca World Record for player being maximum time run-out? Hope you would keep giving him more chance, so he makes it to that. Believe us, there are plenty of us here, who can start from scratch, yet be your 1-in-10 match wonder!!

How many Indians played for under-19 along with Virat Kohli? Why only he always gets a chance? He played well in few of his many matches, & you were all praise for him. 1-in-10 match wonder!!

May be if you give me a chance to keep wickets, after 10 matches, I would play like Parthiv Patel. 20 matches & you would get Dinesh Karthik equivalent. By the 30th match, you would get another Dhoni. So, are you willing to give your 30 match contract just like that?

To : Sachin Tendulkar

With all due respect, after counting all your accomplishments, reading out your all records, 1 thing still eludes you, is a world cup winning feather in your own cap. With these kinds of Team members, that should be a dream-only for you. You have come out in support of our Indian Cricket Team. You should do so. Even I would do that. If they fail, learn from it & improve, it pays to do so. But when they repeat the mistakes, let me tell you sir, at least I feel like heating their bums.

To : Indians

You remember the down phase of Saurav Ganguly? Instead of sitting outside of Team & concentrating on improving his skills (by playing Domestics), he kept a berth in team engaged. When criticized, he bounced up with a century against Zimbabwe.

You remember after T20 World Cup 2009 loss, our team bounced back in some other lesser known tournaments! Similarly after T20 World Cup 2010 loss, our team would bounce back in some other lesser known tournaments! Cheers!

Never mind, if they similarly show their worst side in ODI World Cup 2011. Keep hope. Support Indian Cricket Team. They may show their worth against Afghanistan’s or USA’s Cricket Team.

Sainik Schools

The Scheme to establish Sainik Schools was started in 1961 to broad base recruitment and remove regional imbalance in the officer's cadre of Defence Forces. Sainik Schools are joint venture of the Central and States Governments. At present 18 Sainik Schools are being administered by Sainik Schools Society. Two Sainik Schools one each at Nalanda and Gopalgung in Bihar are being open this year. The Sainik Schools are fully residential and admit students in classes VI & IX only, strictly in order of merit decided as per the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination, held in February each year subject to medical fitness. The medium of instructions in Sainik Schools is English although knowledge of English is not a pre-requisite for admission in these schools. Schools give due attention to both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all round development of their cadets. These Schools are affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education and follow 10+2 pattern in science stream only.
During the year 2002, a total of 108 students from Sainik Schools joined NDA, which takes about 600 cadets every year. Besides, 16 students joined Navy and Army through technical 10+2 entry scheme during 2001. As on date, about 6000 officers of the Defence Forces are alumni of Sainik Schools.
